Matthew 9:18-26 Touched on the Way
Have you ever noticed how much of your life happens while you are on the way to another happening? It was that way with Jesus.
A ruler in the community came to Jesus on his knees to ask Him to bring his just-died daughter to life. Jesus had compassion on this desperate man who wasn’t ready to accept the death of his darling girl. Jesus got up and went with him.
A woman with a bleeding disorder of twelve years standing was in the crowds as the ruler, Jesus, and His disciples hurried past. (I’m sure the ruler set a good jogging pace!) She said to herself, “If only I can touch Jesus’ hem, I will be healed.” She did!
Immediately Jesus turned around and saw her, but not to scold. He spoke kindly, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you.”
Yes, just like that. The smallest effort to reach out in faith to Jesus is rewarded.
Don’t you want to reach out to Jesus too? You know that if you connect with Him, something wonderful is going to happen to you. Long-standing problems will clear up. You’ll be free of them! Your hopes might be as dead as Jarius’ daughter, but if Jesus commands them to rise, they will. For sure!
Jesus told the mourners that the girl was not dead but asleep. They laughed at Him; they knew what death looked like.
God has placed these stories in the Bible to give You and me hope for our situations. Let’s reach out and touch Him! Let’s invite Him to resurrect our precious hopes and dreams. Within the parameters of His prefect will, of course.
PRAYER: I realize just now, Lord, that You have done this for me many times already, but I need Your healing and resurrection work in my life again and again. Please let me connect and draw healing and help from You. Thank You that You notice when I reach out.

P.S. Wish you could have a heart-to-heart talk with God?
Ruthe does. All the time, where ever she goes, she’s having a running conversation with the one she calls Lord, or my Best Friend. You’ve got to meet Ruthe! AND her Secret Roses.
