The Glory of Some
is in their pride and perseverance.
They do not know what
they can do or bear
until they’ve tested their limits.
They won’t accept help,
and they suffer until they can’t
take a drop more.
They are praised
for their independence and endurance.
The glory of others
is in their humility and flexibility.
They know they are weak
but Christ is strong
so they lean on His wise direction
and go forth in His power.
They waste no strain
going overboard on dead-end efforts.
They trust and obey,
and smile when Christ gets the praise.
The glory of the Lord
is in his mercy and forebearance.
Though the proud are
in rebellion against Him,
for a time He gives them lots of rope.
By the pure and submissive
He joyfull accomplishes
mighty deeds with His everlasting flare,
lifting to greatness
the ones wise enough to their own frailty.
