A Valentine for my Friends
This morning, about an hour ago – I was wondering, how can I prepare a Valentine for my Friends? Without a clear idea except that I would want to use roses, I went to work.
Now, before I describe that process, do you pick up on the fact that I’m assuming Valentine’s Day is NOT just intended for married couples and others in the throes of romantic love. There are a number of kinds of love, and singles should be able to celebrate today too, even just simple friendship love.
Just the other day a friend sent an email to her friends, including me, expressing appreciation for our friendships. Someone else mentioned on BBN radio that this is a great day to tell our Lord God in Heaven that we love Him.
Isn’t it interesting that God gave His people feasts or holidays in which to remember certain big events or truths – else they might forget. For example, how many of us would regularly remember Jesus’ coming to earth for us, if we had no Christmas to remind us?
I confess here and now that I often forget to tell my friends that I love and appreciate them. Right now I can’t even remember the last time I told you! I’m ashamed to admit it, but it is so.
Hence, this special Valentine I’ve made just this morning for you!
Many times I chatter here about many other things, but in the back of my mind, it is a constant given that my friends are like rare and special roses in my Garden of Friendship. In the past I used to entertain myself with trying to decide what colour and style or strain of rose each friend is. Nowadays my attitude is more relaxed about that. No need to be quite so specific. (Well, I don’t have quite so much time for daydreaming these days, either.)
P.S. Just right-click on the valentine and hit “save as” to put it on your computer.
