More to Do
It would be nice to say that after that I’ll veg-out for a few days, and then catch up with my housework and weeding of the garden.
However, there is more to do! I still need to design the real cover, and finish the Appendix. I’ve got the timeline done there already, but I’m doing up an index of about 240 people who have worked with the mission at some point over our 76 year history. Pausing to look up when each one started, what job or role they had and when they left, and perhaps if we know what their married name was, or if they went to the foreign mission field after that… all this takes time. (I’ll add as much of that Appendix as I can tonight, but I can’t delay any longer for that).
I want to meet with some people to confirm who certain names really were, and if a photo can be found for them.
Linda and I plan to compile a list of people to whom to send a letter about this book and our coming BIG EVENT in October, and urge them to place an advance order for the book. We need to know how big an order to place with the printer.
Last week Wednesday, Kurt, who is on the planning committee for the BIG EVENT, asked me to prepare a good summary for the book, questions and answers for an interview of me at the meeting, on the mission’s history, and also a powerpoint.
When these books come back to me at the beginning of September I will need to look at all the corrections and changes they suggest, and buckle down to the final polish of the book.
So when I talked of a time crunch last week… the pressure is still on!
Your prayers are much appreciated!
Hey, I KNOW God has called me to this work, and when people read it they will be ready to give God the glory.
(I might hear some kind words too!)
