Preparing for Cataract Surgery
I’m preparing for my cataract surgery this Friday, though mostly it looks like I’m still going through my usual daily schedule of activities. I have my documents in order, and rides arranged to get there and to come home. Another friend has agreed to come pick me up on Sunday morning if I can’t drive.
It occurred to me yesterday that I should go stock up on groceries later today so that, if driving is a problem for a few days, I don’t need to go anywhere. I have warned a few people who are affected by my work, that I may not be up to much computer work for a few days. Still, I think I will be able to manage by using one eye or the other.
Like my Mom, I like to be prepared for any contingency. However, I do think that most likely all will go well with the surgery and in a day or two I’ll be able to see quite far and well with my left eye! I’ve had glasses since I was ten, so I can’t even imagine that, or remember what it might be like.
The Specialist said that he usually does the other eyes about 30 days later, so I should be going through this again mid-July. Then I am to wait four weeks before I can get new prescription glasses for close work, and to correct my astigmatism.
So I see my summer as being one of changes – ultimately, all for the better. Hopefully, next week I’ll have some positive experiences to tell you about.
