Reviving Exercise Habits
Yes, I’m reviving exercise habits after a winter of sitting too much.
All through the winter I’ve noticed that I was gaining a pound or two nearly every week. Just knowing where that can lead got me a bit worried. But all the dieting tricks weren’t helping.
That bout with shingles set me back considerably too, as I tired out more easily and often took a nap when I should have been more active physically.
Well, I’m happy to report that I’ve been doing about 2 minutes of exercise just before meals. I still feel winded from that much, but I decided that I had to start small and build up stamina and gradually increase my time and efforts.
Last week after the yard sale I was talking with a neighbour and we both bemoaned the fact that we knew we should be walking more, but needed some motivation. I said I would have to arrange my schedule differently to make time for it. I’ve succeeded in doing that 2 mornings now, and have gone for a short walk at 9 am.
I think I know which is Rita’s house, but I don’t know her last name, so I will keep on practicing until I meet with her outside again and arrange to walk with her regularly in that half hour block.
So far, walking away for 15 minutes and then turning around and coming back, seems to be the most I can handle. But already I notice that after I have rested a few minutes, I feel more alive and energetic than I have in a long time.
The half hour after supper of physical work in-earnest seems to give me that kind of adrenalin rush too.
My mood is positive and looking forward to this summer!
