Ungluing Old Photos
Have you tried to take photos out of one of those old magnetic albums? The ones with the gooey lines, and the clear acetate layovers?
Well, Linda and I are tackling the job of making new albums with the old WTM photos, but the earliest ones are in a big black album with those magnetic pages. Removing the photos is very hard! I checked online for tips for doing it easier.
One is to use dental floss to slide under an edge and then to wiggle it until the whole photo is free.
Another idea is to put the album in a freezer for a few hours, then take it out and try removing them then.
Well, I tried, and I think both of those ideas could work, if the photos were not GLUED down with strong glue! So in this case I’ll have to scan the photos right on the pages, and then print out new ones to use in our new albums.
However, if you have ordinary photos just laid into such albums… without glue, the above two tips may be useful to you.
