“The RoseBouquet”

When You Look for a Song

While I was searching for lyrics and music for the song, “In Heavenly Love Abiding” I came across a great resource when you are looking for a song. This is a fine list compiled and put on the website of Prairie View, a publishing house for a small, very conservative Mennonite denomination in Manitoba. (I dropped in on them once when traveling with Dad near Rosenort).

This database is here; prairieviewpress.com/images/pdfs/song_list_info.pdf

It turns out to be 497 pages in a chart with titles in alphabetical order, then the first line of the song, and if there is a chorus, the first line of the chorus, and then the author of the lyrics, and lastly the composer.

I found this new song of mine on about page 201, and it appeared six times, each time with a different composer. Well, actually, Felix Mendelssohn was repeated twice. I don’t know if that means he wrote two different tunes, or if there are only 5 different tunes or arrangements for this song.

This doesn’t tell you where to find them, but it does give you clues to use in your further Google search.
